Therapy for teens

Therapy that meets teens where they are.

Developmentally-attuned therapy for adolescents 13–17. We talk to teens like people, not patients. Clear confidentiality, structured parent involvement, telehealth across Florida.

For parents

Your teen doesn't need to be "managed." They need to be understood.

Adolescents come to therapy when their internal world has outpaced their ability to talk about it. They don't always have the language yet. They don't always want to perform "wellness" for you, their school, or their pediatrician. And they have a finely-tuned radar for adults who are pretending to be on their side.

We talk to teens like people. We take them seriously. We hold confidentiality the way they need us to — within clearly explained limits — so they actually use the room.

And we partner with you. Not by reporting what they say, but by helping you understand what's developmentally normal, what's a red flag, and what your role can usefully be.

What we work on

  • Anxiety, perfectionism, school stress
  • Depression, isolation, low self-worth
  • Identity development, including LGBTQ+ identity
  • Family conflict, parent-teen communication
  • Friendships, social anxiety, bullying
  • Phone/social media patterns
  • Self-harm and safety concerns (with safety planning)
How it works

A clear structure, designed for teens.

Adolescent therapy isn't adult therapy in smaller portions. The approach, the pace, and the role of parents all need to be different.

Intake with parents

The first conversation usually happens with the parent. We learn what's going on, set expectations, and walk through the confidentiality framework.

Weekly individual sessions

50 minutes with the teen, telehealth from their bedroom or a private space. The work is theirs; we go at their pace.

Parent check-ins

Periodic check-ins with parents — focused on themes, progress, and your role. With the teen's knowledge, never about specific session content.

Common questions

What people ask about teen therapy.

What about confidentiality? Will you tell me what my teen says?+
Confidentiality is essential to the work — and to whether your teen actually uses the room. We don't share specific session content with parents. We will tell you if there is risk of serious harm (suicide, abuse, plans to hurt someone). Beyond that, periodic parent check-ins focus on themes and progress, not transcripts. We'll explain exactly how this works on your intake call.
My teen doesn't want to go to therapy. What do I do?+
This is one of the most common things we hear. Most teens who resist therapy at first end up using it well — once they're with the right clinician and once they understand the room is actually theirs. Start with a low-pressure first session ('just talk to them once, see what you think'). Many resistant teens become fully engaged within two or three sessions.
How young can teens be to do telehealth?+
We work with adolescents 13 and up. Some 13-year-olds do well with telehealth; others find video harder than in-person, particularly if they're more reserved. We'll discuss whether telehealth is a good fit during intake. For younger children, we'd refer you to a child therapist.
What if my teen is self-harming or talking about suicide?+
Please contact us, and please don't wait. We're trained to work with self-harm and suicidal ideation, and these are some of the most important reasons to be in therapy. If your teen is in immediate danger, call or text 988 or go to the nearest ER. We'll always work with you to build a safety plan as part of treatment.
How long will my teen need therapy?+
It depends on what we're working on. Some adjustment issues resolve in 8–12 sessions. Anxiety or depression typically takes 3–6 months of weekly work. Identity exploration, family work, or trauma processing can take longer. We'll give you a clearer picture after the first few sessions.
